I'm seeing so many jaded, apprehensive thoughts on 4th July this year. I pray that the many entrenched opinions in America can be resolved peacefully. On a brighter note, I love reading about your travels. Almost 40 years ago I was an exchange student at University of North Texas in Denton. That was an amazing experience
I don't believe that travel solves our problems, but we are such a big country and we know so little about each other. I'm amazed by what I hear friends and family say about parts of the country they have never visited. I truly believe that traveling and talking to locals can slowly transform the way we see our role as citizens. I'm trying to not be jaded, but I want to be honest about the pain I feel as a citizen right now.

Dialogue is the only way to create peace and find a bridge to another person's heart. I applaud your honesty. You are not alone in feeling that way
Despite political differences, we still live in the greatest country on the planet. I truly believe that.
