I love this. I live in Texas and am wanting to explore more and more. This inspired me so much.

Yay! There were so many things we loved about living in the state.

I do see what you're talking about with many Texans not knowing about different areas. We have littles and the car rides seem daunting, but increasingly and the more I read and see, the more I want to get out there and explore. Thanks again

I've written so much about what we saw and did in Texas. The Kickstarter for my camping memoir with many of those stories launches May 7

Honestly, this is why I would love to visit America! I'm from the Netherlands, which is so small that all the landscapes are exactly the same. I love the diversity of nature in the States, and Texas itself is already huge of course.

Yep! I remember when I studied in London trying to explain to people that the US is SO many different things. Even Americans don't realize the riches that we have here in terms of diversity.

Sarah, I really enjoyed that. I've always felt that Texas is like a small continent. As your excellent photos show and your article states, Texas has so much to offer. Diverse in vast geography and mix of people, there is a unique culture of independence and a rich history here. I write many short stories with a setting in Texas. One story in particular was set in the Llano Estacado region, or 'The Staked Plains'. My attempt to describe the setting was a challenge to say the least. Thanks for this wonderful post.

We discovered that even Texans don't fully understand their complex and rich history. And it is a state that is rich for fiction writing!

The first year of Covid we stayed in Georgetown, TX, and the wildflowers were amazing.

They really are. One thing we never did was a bluebonnets tour, which I kind of regret. But there is so much beautiful biodiversity in the state that people don't realize when their only view of Texas is Friday Night Lights 😂

That was a wonderfully written of the diverse beauty of our state (I’m here in a small space between Houston, Austin, and Dallas). Love the pictures too!

Thanks! Digging for the right pictures took a while 😂 Our last camping trip in Texas was Lake Mineral Wells and I will need to write about that at some point too.

Thank you so much. It's a fun series to write because I want people to know that Texas isn't just what they see on the news.
