I love seeing the mash barrels full as opposed to the empty ones we saw. Great photos! I really enjoyed reading about your experiences there and thanks for the link to my bourbon history post.

Oooooh, I'd been looking forward to this, Sarah, ever since you'd tipped me off about it in the comment of a previous post! What a great account of a brilliant experience, and your pictures of what is clearly a gorgeous place are wonderful! I love that your kids are going to sign up as Ambassadors when they're older - what a great idea.

Turning 21 in the US has become such a toxic milestone, we want to turn it into a positive learning experience where our kids learn the value of responsibly consuming alcohol. Are they going to make mistakes with it? Sure! But why can't we, as parents, guide them through part of that growing process?

I think that's such a healthy and responsible approach towards your children and alcohol, Sarah. Over here it's legal for 18-year-olds to drink alcohol - and we're still at high school over here at 18!

LOL! Conversely, I remember some mates at the end of our first year at uni heading over the pond to work Camp America for the summer - they were 19 and VERY disappointed when they found they couldn't legally drink when they got there...!

Beautiful pictures, I feel like a rube not knowing anything about Kentucky. What city is the distillery near? I am a big fan of John Prine's music and I listen to his song "Paradise" about the horrors of strip mining in western Kentucky.
