You write well, not read reams but enough to see you are good. Writing is all about bashing your head on a brick wall and being able to see through the blood when it cracks!
I don't know if it's a lesson so much as a realization. I finally understood the significance of an email list. People had talked about it for years and I had tried to build it with my WordPress account, but I had no support in building an actual community of readers. Connecting with other readers here has transformed both my blog space, newsletter, and podcast. And I just keep learning.
I understand your perspective on WordPress. I played around with it but didn't find it valuable. Substack on the other hand is great because you can engage and build valued connections. I have found notes & recommendations useful. How about you, what has helped you connect with readers?
I lived in Indy and Fort Wayne also :)
Always nice to meet people who know what I'm taking about 😂

Thank you, and true!
Thanks for the insights! What was your biggest learning moving to Substack?

Appreciate you taking the time to reply!

Notes, recommendations, and actually interacting with other readers. The networking tools here are amazing, IF you use them.
"IF". That's the difference right there. Gotta use them.
As a newbie to Substack still trying to find my way, I appreciate the intro post. :)
Thank you! Now I have to do one for my podcast 😂
